REQUESTING DATA

Consultants/Developers

All data requests should be made to Durham Biodiversity Data Service by emailing dbds@durhamwt.co.uk.

There is a charge for these data searches which aims to cover the costs incurred by DBDS for managing and retrieving data.

Changes to Rates for Data Searches

The Durham Biodiversity Data Service is continually investing in improved data sets to ensure that consultancies are provided with the most accurate and up to date biodiversity data available for the Durham region. In order to facilitate searches through the wider range of data now available we increased our rate in September 2009 as shown below.

Data searches will be charged at £100 per hour or part thereof. A standard data search with a 2km radius takes I hour and therefore costs £100.

A single species search costs £50 and a full species search costs £80.

All data searches are accompanied by a unique validation code which can be used to demonstrate to clients/planning authorities that up-to-date data from DBDS has been used.

Data can be supplied in paper format if requested, otherwise it will be in an electronic format and sent via email. We supply species lists, maps of sites showing Local Wildlilfe Site boundaries, Local Wildlife Site citations and any more recent survey reports, and BAP habitats where possible. The data includes relevant contextual information.

Public

Data requests can be made through the EYE project which holds an archive of wildlife data for Durham and is currently digitising other datasets for the north-east region.
