SPECIES ZONE MAPS
These maps have been provided for DBDS by John Durkin.
They are intended as a guide to the general range of these species in the DBAP area, for survey, study, habitat management and nature conservation conservation purposes. They may also be used to inform the design of and techniques used for surveys for planning development purposes, for example by indicating the species most likely to be found in a particular area. The zone maps are not intended to be a substitute for surveys on the ground, or to be the only factor considered in the survey design.
The maps show the known species records displayed as two kilometre dots, with a surrounding coloured zone which shows the probable main range of each reptile species in the county. Within these zones, any suitable habitat may be expected to support the species mapped.
Outside of the coloured zones, the species is much less likely to occur. It should be noted that the distribution of grass snakes in the county is imperfectly known, and that common lizard occurs in many isolated but suitable habitats outside of the coloured zones. |
